Alloa loanee's long-term injury deals blow to Wishaw ahead of new West of Scotland League season

Wishaw have been dealt a huge blow ahead of the new season as they fear summer signing Reis Webster could be out for the season.

The 19-year-old winger joined on loan from Alloa but picked up an injury during a 2-0 friendly defeat to local rivals Caledonian Braves last midweek.

Wishaw boss David Dunn has revealed the club fear he has ruptured his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and may not feature this season.

Dunn, whose side start their West of Scotland Second Division campaign next Saturday away to St Anthony's, said: "Reis came in on loan from Alloa's development squad and he'd really settled in. "I'm no expert but it looks like that and he's probably out for the season if that's the case.

"It's a big blow for the boy and the club. He's come here to get games at this level to hopefully kick on so it's tough for him."

The Beltane Park side travel to Premier Division Beith on Saturday in their final warm-up match and Dunn has been pleased with how his squad have handled tough pre-season test already this season, even if the results haven't reflected their displays.

He added: "Things have been going well in pre-season in terms of performances. Results haven't been great, but the performances have been excellent.

"We've taken on high calibre teams this season. We drew 0-0 with East Stirling, then played Blackburn and lost 1-0 but I was very happy with how we played.

"We've got Beith this weekend and that's another tough one.

"When I played, I always wanted to take on games
