Bolton Wanderers play-offs message sent as Ricardo Santos makes Gillingham expectation

Ricardo Santos is expecting a scappy encounter when Bolton take on Gillingham this weekend as the Wanderers skipper believes the club are still in a good position and will believe until the end in their quest to reach the League One play-offs.

Wanderers travel to Priestfield this Saturday to take on the Gills and are aiming to return to winning ways after last weekend's loss to MK Dons.

Bolton are 11th in the third tier of English football and eight points from the top six as things currently stand.

The Gills meanwhile are in the League One drop zone in 22nd, but are only three points from safety heading into Saturday afternoon's clash.

Wanderers will be seeking to return to winning ways at Priestfield and start another run of wins as they aim to make it into the play-offs in their final 11 games of the campaign.

Wanderers have won eight of their last 11 games and lost just twice in that time, and Santos believes Ian Evatt's team are still in a good position in the division as belief remains high that Bolton can reach where they want to this campaign.

And he has looked ahead to the clash versus the Gills as Wanderers look to replicate their bouncing back as they demonstrated when losing to Burton Albion last month and returned to winning ways just after.

He said: "I think it will be a scrappy game like the one at Burton, so we need to roll up our sleeves and do whatever we can do to get three points.

"We have been through this before. We lost at Burton but we jumped straight up again and beat AFC Wimbledon 4-0, so we are capable of doing it. We are not disappointed, we will just stick together.
