All trains stopped between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge amid police incident

Emergency services have been called to an incident between two railway stations.

All trains are stopped in both directions between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge as the police attend the scene.

Transport for Greater Manchester has said: "Rail services are currently unable to operate in either direction between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge due to a police led incident."

National Rail has added: "Services maybe cancelled or revised until lines can be reopened."

Greater Manchester Police and the British Transport Police have been contacted for more information.

All lines have been reopened between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge as the the emergency services have completed their work and are now safely clear of the line, according to National Rail.

National Rail has just issued an update on the expected time that the disruption will be resolved. It has now extended from 7.30pm to 8pm.
