All Brits travelling to popular Canary Island issued 'urgent warning'
The Canary Islands are a winter haven for many Brits seeking respite from the chill.
It's fair to say Tenerife is a top holiday pick for many due to its promise of sunshine and a peaceful atmosphere. The island's warm climate, clear skies and quieter crowds make it an ideal spot for those looking to swap the cold for tranquillity.
However, TikTok user George Buckley has a warning for travellers, and he's issued an important tip about getting around in Tenerife.
In his video, he strongly advises against taking taxis, suggesting that alternative transport could lead to significant savings.
He shared his own experience, saying: "Don't get a taxi from the airport. Use the public buses. We used it to get from a 40 minute journey from the south terminal to get over to our airport, and it cost us €4.
"You can pay by cash, or you can pay by their local little top up card, but it's easier to just pay by cash. It is a green bus, which looks like this."
Awaiting his return trip, George highlighted the cost-effectiveness of public transport, adding: "We're currently waiting for our return one - it is the number 40. Taxis and Ubers will cost €50 - we checked.
"Obviously, you can split it but, if you actually want to save a good amount of money, take the local transport.
"It's definitely worth while and it's what we're doing again on the way back. It's very nice as well. It might be quite crowded, you might have to stand up, but it's worth it."
Since the video surfaced online, it has racked up thousands of views and prompted others to share their thoughts. Tales of personal travel experiences started flowing in, and people seemed to have differing views.
One viewer shared: "Good advice. Taxis are a rip off."
