Alison Hammond's son makes rare ITV This Morning appearance as she breaks down on air

Alison Hammond was left wiping her eyes after her son made a rare TV appearance to help her celebrate a career milestone. The presenter was back on This Morning on Monday (September 26) but not as host. Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were hosting the ITV daytime show while Alison thought she was heading out for a game of Dosh on Your Doorstep.

The competition usually sees the likes of Alison or co-star Josie Gibson show up at a viewer's house and make them answer questions in order to win a cash prize. But prior to joining Alison, Phillip, 60, teased: "We are starting the show today with a special surprise as we meet one of our most amazing Dosh on Your Doorstep contestants EVER!"

They then went live to Alison who was on a mystery street in Birmingham seemingly getting ready to surprise the latest viewer. However, the show's hosts faked a technical hitch in order to explain what was really going to happen to viewers.

"We have just cut the feed to Alison's earpiece," Phillip, 60, explained. "We've made everything up because the person we are surprising is Alison herself who has been on This Morning for an incredible and wonderful 20 years." Holly, 41, explained how they had set up a full morning of surprises for the presenters.

As she started her, long, journey to the viewer's house, instead of a usual member of the public, Alison was greeted by her Big Brother pal Kate Lawler and This Morning co-star and friend Josie Gibson. The 47-year-old TV star appeared gobsmacked before the trio screamed about what was happening.
