Alfredo Morelos Rangers transfer resolve tested by Sevilla as opening bid for striker 'named'

Sevilla have reportedly prepared an opening bid as they look to land Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos this summer.

The Colombian is approaching the final year of his contract, with reports suggesting that the Ibrox talisman is holding contract talks with the club.

However, the La Liga side are seemingly looking to derail Rangers' bid to extend their star mans stay in Glasgow.

Spanish outlet Fichajes report that Morelos has been watched by the club as they look for a successor to Youssef En-Nesyri, if the Moroccan is sold this summer.

SPORT report that Sevilla plan to put on the table an opening offer of €8million (£6.6million) with the player nearing the end of his deal.

That would appear to be well short of the asking price for the frontman.

Lille had a £16million offer booted out in August 2020 and it was reported that Rangers were holding out for around £20million.

Morelos rediscovered his best form under Gio van Bronckhorst but was a notable absentee during the clubs run to the Europa League final.

The 25-year-old suffered an injury to his thigh while representing Colombia during the March international break and missed the remainder of the campaign.
