Alfredo Morelos Rangers future latest as players could 'hound him out' as big move talk squashed

Rangers hero Neil McCann reckons the players could force Alfredo Morelos out of the club if his attitude and commitment issues persist.

The Colombian has long been the top asset at Ibrox amid talk of mega money moves but his future is now in question after being left out of their Champions League play-off second leg against PSV. It's dominated the headlines ahead of it and former player McCann isn't so sure it's the correct call.

He believes, speaking on Sportsound, that taking him to the Netherlands and placing him on the bench may have been an option. If Morelos then didn't perform, the players would turn on him fully. Any notion of a big move with less than 12 months of his contract is also squashed: "I've thought about this long and hard. As much as I dislike, putting it lightly, what Morelos is doing, I would have taken him.

"I would have put him on the bench and said 'you owe this whole group and everybody who supports Rangers a performance and an apology.' That apology would be putting him on the pitch and scoring goals.

"But if went out there and didn't play, the players would bury him. I hate his attitude. I hear the boys say he's a great lad but at times I don't think he's a very good team-mate at all.

"He's a right good goalscorer though, let's be honest. On that side, I am taking him. I don't think the players will be distracted by him, they'll look at him with disdain at times and saying 'you owe us.'

"If you give him the opportunity and he doesn't do it, the players will hound him out. He won't have anywhere to go. It's not for the £16 million they rejected once upon a time. They aren't getting that."
