Alfredo Morelos backed to silence Rangers critics as countryman convinced Galatasaray switch can reignite career

Alfredo Morelos has been backed to shine in Turkey with a reported move to Galatasaray hotting up - banishing the Rangers critics who have been against him this season.

The Colombian began life in Glasgow like a house on fire, scoring seventy-seven goals in his first three seasons at Ibrox as the Gers got themselves back into European prominence after half a decade away from the continental stage. But this season has proved to be Morelos' worst with just 10 goals in forty games as the Ibrox side have fallen twelve points behind title rivals Celtic. The changing of manager may not have helped, alongside his contractual situation and fitness issues - which have all led to criticism of the former HJK Helsinki forward.

But with talk of a move away from Govan hotting up with just three months left on his Light Blues contract, Morelos has been backed to join clubs across Europe. And Colombian player Alexis Perez - who plays in Turkey for Giresunspor - has backed Morelos to put his woes behind him with a move to Galatasaray after 'doing important work' at Rangers.

Speaking to Milliyet, he said: "I don't know him personally, but I know his football characteristics. He is a player with a very high potential and a strong striker. He scored many goals in Rangers both in the Europa League and the Scottish League.

"He did important work. I follow his matches for the Colombian national team. I think he will contribute a lot to Galatasaray. He will score a lot of goals in Galatasaray. The more Colombian players come to Turkey, the more I will be happy."
