Alfa Romeo boss Vasseur urges Monaco and co. to follow Zandvoort example

Alfa Romeo Team Boss Frederic Vasseur has said that some circuits like Monaco might be wise to follow Zandvoort’s lead in terms of the party atmosphere they create.

The Dutch Grand Prix returned to the calendar for the first time since the 1980s last year, and a sea of orange fans was in attendance to cheer on Max Verstappen to victory in front of his home crowd.

It was quite the event, and certainly one that lived long in the memory thanks to the party atmosphere in existence over the entire weekend on the Dutch coast.

And, that said, Vasseur believes that more F1 Grand Prix venues will need to try and do the same with the entire event around a race, including Monaco:

“I think F1 had a big change last year in Zandvoort,” he said.

“Not just in terms of show. In terms of the show Zandvoort was a mega change but from these dates I think all the events were more into this direction and everybody will have to follow the move.

“But in the end, not just the show, but everything else around the Grand Prix. And I think Monaco will have to do the same. For sure Monaco is important for us. We know perfectly that it’s a historical Grand Prix.

“But at the end of the day, it will, it will come from them, I’m sure, because they can’t stay old-fashioned. And I’m not just thinking about Monaco. But it’s a good lesson for all Grands Prix.”
