Alex Rae joins Reading as former Rangers star drafted in to help Paul Ince

Former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae has joined Reading as interim assistant manager.

The 52-year-old has been drafted into to help caretaker boss Paul Ince following the dismissal of Veljko Paunovic last week.

They now take charge of the Royals with their EFL Championship status under threat.

The Berkshire club sit 21st in England's second tier and face Birmingham City on Tuesday night - and Rae will join Ince and Mikele Leigertwood in the dugout for a crucial clash.
