Alejandro Garnacho mocked as Manchester United star spotted wearing another club's shirt

Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho has been mocked for potentially irking his hero Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 20-year-old has not travelled to the USA for United's pre-season tour as he was part of the Argentina squad that won the Copa America and is still enjoying his break. Emerging as a star in Erik ten Hag's side last season, Garnacho had a more limited role with his national team but has been given an extended break ahead of the new season.

While United prepare to face Real Betis and Liverpool in the final week of their US tour, Garnacho has been soaking up the sun on holiday in Dubai alongside team-mate Facundo Pellistri. However, Garnacho has prompted jokes about his idolisation of Ronaldo after sharing an unexpected picture wearing an Al-Ittihad shirt – the rivals of Ronaldo's team Al Nassr.

On his Instagram story, Garnacho posted a picture with Pellistri, captioned "Work done." His choice to sport an Al-Ittihad kit was surprising, especially considering his idol Ronaldo plays for rival side Al Nassr.

MEN Sport has previously reported that Garnacho is one of four players that United have no intention of selling this summer. While the Argentina international will obviously not be heading to Al-Ittihad, who recently appointed former United defender Laurent Blanc as manager, the picture allowed fans on X, formerly Twitter, to poke fun at Garnacho's adoration of Ronaldo.
