Alejandro Garnacho has left clear Man United blueprint for three newest first team players

Manchester United already have one of the youngest sides in the Premier League. With that including third choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton (38) and defensive cover in the shape of Jonny Evans (36), it is even more impressive.

What is even more notable is that, over these past two years, it is their junior players who have regularly been top performers. At 20, Rasmus Hojlund joined United and finished as their top-scorer in the top-flight last season, while only he and Bruno Fernandes scored more than Alejandro Garnacho.

Kobbie Mainoo only made his debut in December, but still scored three goals and did much outside of that to hold his position down. Willy Kambwala did enough in his senior appearances to earn a permanent move away from Old Trafford and Amad returned to lay down his intentions as a serious option for Erik ten Hag.

What United can now add to this group is a core of dynamic, willing, and determined under-18 champions. Coming into the 2024/25 campaign, newly-established names such as Rhys Bennett, Daniel Gore, Ethan Wheatley and Harry Amass are in the mix for roles in the senior setup.

Toby Collyer - a captain at age-group level - has made his debut and become a genuine rotation candidate already. Amass is yet to take that step, although he's the youngest player here, aged just 17.

Alongside Wheatley, Collyer is balancing his commitments with Ten Hag's side and the Under-21s. With a European clash against FC Twente on Thursday for the senior group and EFL Trophy action on Tuesday, there are two chances for the talented next generation at Carrington to make a statement.
