Aldi's savage response to man who bought M&S Colin Caterpillar cake for birthday

Aldi has cheekily responded to a bold Marks & Spencer shopper after he declared his allegiance to only the 'best and original' caterpillar cake on his birthday.

Matthew Cropper made a beeline for M&S on his 54th birthday, to pick out a very particular sweet treat. He shared a snap on twitter of himself holding a £9.50 Colin the Caterpillar cake in his arms.

Aldi, known for its spirited comebacks on social media, didn't let this comment slide under the radar. Their social media team playfully fired back with: "Grow up Matthew x."

The interaction has garnered 986,000 views – and many admitted it left them feeling tickled. One user said: "Aldi is Matthew’s biggest opp," as a second commented: "Never too old
