Aldi customer strikes gold with crisp packet more than three times usual weight

We've all experienced the disappointment of opening a crisp packet only to find it half-full, or noticing that the packets seem "smaller than they used to be".

However, one Aldi shopper recently had quite the opposite experience, claiming he'd hit the "jackpot". He shared a photo on Reddit of the supermarket's Snackrite branded cheese and onion crisps, captioning it: "Hit the crisp packet jackpot!"

He added: "The bag of crisps is filled to the brim! We are saving it for a special occasion." Showing off his find, he placed the 25g packet on kitchen scales, revealing it weighed an impressive 91g – more than triple the usual amount.

"Get an empty packet and sell the excess on," one Reddit user joked in reply. A second praised: "This is the kind of content that I log on to Reddit for."

A third agreed, stating: "This is how things should be." Whilst a fourth shared a similar experience involving Aldi's cheese, adding: "I find their cheese overweight quite often. I've had around 500g in a 300g packet."

Meanwhile, another Redditor jokingly suggested the extra weight could be due to something less appetising. "I don't want to be the one to puncture the atmosphere, but a house mouse weighs 12-30g," they quipped. "So it could be 25g crisps in there and anything up to five mice."

One person did the maths and concluded: "3 x 12 = 36g of mice. 25g crisps + 36g mice = 61g. "That's a 30g shortfall, so a lot of seasoning. Yes, on balance I'd still call that a jackpot."

The original poster didn't comment on the mouse jokes, leaving us to assume there was no hidden rodent in the packet.
