Albion Rovers v East Kilbride: Clark determined to delay Kilby's Lowland League title party

Sandy Clark says Albion Rovers are intent on delaying East Kilbride's Lowland League title celebrations tonight.

The Monklands men play host to Kilby knowing anything other than a win will see Mick Kennedy's side get their party started at Cliftonhill.

It is set to be anything but straightforward for the visitors, given Rovers gave them a bloody nose on Boxing Day in a 3-1 win at K-Park.

And Clark, whose side go into the game after defeats to Civil Service Strollers and Edinburgh Uni, said: "I know if I was a player playing against the team who can win the league, I wouldn't want that. I'd have pride in myself, I'd want to do well.

"But my concern on Tuesday isn't East Kilbride. It is just the next game for us and we will want to try and improve on how we've been in our last two games.

"It's that inconsistency again.

"The two previous games before these ones, we were excellent.

"Hopefully we can get back to that level of performance we showed against Cumbernauld Colts and Celtic B and do what we can to delay East Kilbride's championship celebrations.

"We have shown we are capable of beating any team in this league on our day."

It is likely to be a surreal moment for former Rovers skipper Sean Fagan, who joined East Kilbride from the Coatbridge club last month.

Speaking to Lanarkshire Live Sport when he signed, the 23-year-old said: "“We play Albion soon so that would really be something if I was to go back to Cliftonhill and be crowned champions with East Kilbride – that would be wild."

Kick-off at Cliftonhill is 7.45pm.
