Akanji, Grealish, Bobb - Man City injury latest and return dates before Newcastle and Real Madrid

Manchester City are waiting for news on two of their senior players after a frustrating night against Real Madrid this week.

After starting well and taking the lead, City saw both Manuel Akanji and Jack Grealish replaced with injury in the first half and will assess both ahead of a huge week that will define their Champions League prospects both this season and next season.

Premier League clashes with Newcastle and Liverpool sandwich the second leg vs Real Madrid with City needing to beat the Spaniards to progress to the last-16. In the Premier League, the Blues are level with Newcastle going into this weekend's clash.

Injury: Groin

Akanji pulled up when blocking a Vinicius Jr cross against Real Madrid, and while he limped through to half-time, he did not emerge for the second period in the Champions League.

Guardiola did not offer any explanation on Akanji's issue, but the Swiss international was limping heavily on his way to the dressing rooms at the break. City are set to offer a more detailed update on Akanji's possible lay-off when Guardiola faces the media on Friday lunchtime.
