'Ajax, free Antony' - Manchester United fans issue transfer demand as new comments emerge

Manchester United fans have had their say after the news emerged that the club are edging closer to signing Ajax star Antony before the transfer window closes.

The Brazilian attacker was left out of the Ajax squad for the second successive game at FC Utrecht on Sunday and it is understood United are progressing on a deal to bring him to Old Trafford.

The Manchester Evening News revealed last week United were due to bid again for Antony and were confident of signing the 22-year-old. Although Ajax rejected an improved offer on Friday, United are hopeful of agreeing an overall package that could near €100million (£84.66m).

However, Ajax head coach Alfred Schreuder has claimed that there have not been any developments in relation to United's ongoing pursuit of winger Antony.

"The Antony situation hasn't changed compared to last week," Schreuder told ESPN ahead of kick-off on Sunday.

"We discuss it internally every day, also with the player. He reports himself at the club and we speak. But I want to focus on the players we have here, for now Antony is not important."

Schreuder added: "Nowadays, everything is about money and I think this is sad. this our world, it's very sad and I don't approve that these things are happening to us."

It comes after Antony outlined just how keen he is to leave Ajax before the window shuts during an interview with Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

He said: "During the window months, meetings concluded including a proposal from Ajax for contract renewal. I made it clear once again I want to leave the club.
