Airdrie won't dwell on Dunfermline disappointment as Watson eyes Ayr raid to spark run

Craig Watson insists Airdrie boss Rhys McCabe won't allow his players to dwell on the disappointment of their dismal display against Dunfermline - as he called on the Diamonds to put a run together.

Airdrie suffered back-to-back defeats in the Championship with Dunfermline's 2-1 win following the same scoreline in the previous weeks' defeat at Partick Thistle.

The results put a dent in Airdrie's top four hopes, with Dunfermline marching four points clear of fifth-place Diamonds having played a game less, while sixth-place Inverness closed the gap to within a point with a game in hand.

But frustrated Watson, who marked his 100th appearance in the Diamond against the Pars, says the gaffer will keep them in a positive frame of mind for the trip to Ayr on Saturday, which Watson hopes can be the catalyst for a positive run.

He said: "I'm really disappointed by the result, especially with what the game meant. It was a chance for us to go into fourth spot and, given they have a game in hand over us, it is so disappointing.

"We are in the position we are in, and we just have to deal with it properly to get out of it.

"The good thing about the gaffer is he won't dwell on it and it won't be a negative atmosphere.

"We are good at turning things around after a tough result. We'll get a good week of training under the belt and bounce back.

"We are in a wee two-game slump at the moment, but we had a good run before that so we've just got to get back to find that little edge again.

"We have to start games faster. We were a bit sloppy
