Airdrie goalkeeper reckons Diamonds form is title-winning but Cove Rangers factor highlighted

Airdrie goalkeeper Max Currie says the Diamonds are displaying their potential League One title credentials after another win for Ian Murray's men.

The stopper was largely a pedestrian as the challengers made it 14 leagues game unbeaten with a 2-0 stroll against Queen's Park.

Callum Smith netted a fine strike from outside the box before half-time and Dylan Easton followed that up with an excellent half-volley.

Despite sitting second and five points off top, Airdrie have not lost in 14 games and booked a promotion play-off spot ahead of a crucial match with Cove at home next week.

Currie says the team is a pleasure to play in: "We have been on a good winning streak and against Queen's Park it was just about going out and getting the job done - and we did.

"First half I didn't have a save to make and in the second half we knew Queen's Park would throw stuff at us. But we stood up and took it.

"It's just a winning habit, you can do the same when you're losing. You get into a losing habit and can't find a win. But things just seem to be going our way."

The goalkeeper is well aware of how big Airdrie's next home match is, but he doesn't see it being any bigger than games that have come before it.

He added: "I think it's going to be as big as the rest of the games we've had in the build-up to it. We've had to win to give us a chance of winning the league.

"If Cove win, then it swings in their favour quite a bit. But if we win, then we have a good chance.

"It is difficult as usually our form would win us the league. It would the last couple of seasons. But Cove will be the same. We just need to take care of ourselves."
