Airdrie game moved for TV broadcast as Championship battle heats up

Airdrie's Championship match at home to Queen's Park next month has been moved so it can be broadcast live by BBC Scotland.

The New Broomfield showdown has been moved from Saturday, October 21 to Friday, October 20, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

It's the first visit by the Spiders to the North Lanarkshire stadium since beating the Diamonds in the Championship play-off in May 2022 when a Simon Murray penalty earned them a 2-1 win on the day and 3-2 on aggregate.

Airdrie are fifth in the Championship deal with Queen's Park sitting third, three points ahead but having played a game more.

Near-neighbours Albion Rovers are also being given a taste of the limelight, as the Lowland League club's Scottish Gas Scottish Cup first round against League One Stirling Albion at Forthbank is being broadcast by BBC Scotland on Monday, September 25, with a 7.05pm kick-off.

Rovers lost 3-2 in League Two on their last visit to Forthbank back in March. The sides went in opposite directions, as Stirling won the title and Rovers dropped into the Lowland League via a play-off defeat against Spartans.
