Airdrie fancied themselves against Dunfermline, says frustrated Diamonds star
Adam Frizzell says Airdrie fancied themselves against Dunfermline, and is frustrated that their clash was a shock call-off.
The Diamonds woke up to the surprising news that there was a pitch inspection at East End Park after their undersoil heating apparently failed, leaving water on the surface.
Fourth-placed Airdrie were on fine form, with a run of three straight wins and unbeaten in four, as they prepared to head to Fife.
Airdrie captain Frizzell said: “It’s never going to be an easy game going there.
“We had them all last season and this season and haven’t beaten them, although every game has been probably a draw, or they’ve nicked one or two of them.
“But we fancied ourselves today, we’re flying high at the moment, the boys are full of confidence, so it is disappointing.
“Dunfermline have a few injuries and are short in a few places and stuff.
“It’s frustrating for us, but we just need to take the rest, because it has been a hectic Christmas period, and then rest up for next week.”
