Airdrie boss looks to keep up unbeaten Raith record when league leaders come calling

Rhys McCabe hopes his Airdrie side can build on last night's win over Inverness and maintain their unbeaten record against Raith Rovers this weekend.

The Diamonds enjoyed a 2-0 win over the Caley Jags, thanks to second half headers from Nikolay Todorov and Callum Fordyce, to make it back-to-back wins in the Championship.

That has taken them up to fourth in the table and they now face the league leaders at New Broomfield on Saturday in a huge test.

Airdrie are yet to lose to Rovers - managed by former Diamonds boss Ian Murray - having won 1-0 in September and drawn 1-1 at Stark's Park in November.

And after seeing off Inverness, McCabe said: "We've played Raith a couple of times now and I know them really well.

"We firmly know what to expect from them and they will be the same.

"Both games have been entertaining, especially the game up there. They have made a habit of scoring late goals and in some of their recent games they had a couple of goals lead and let that slip.

"So it is important that we go into that game with the right mentality and build on this [win over Inverness]."

With the January transfer window now open, the Diamonds could look to add to their squad to maintain their promotion push for the Premiership.

But McCabe was coy when asked if fans could see some fresh faces this month.

He said: "We are always actively looking.

"The budget and how we work at this club, if we are approaching a player or we are keen to sign a player, the likelihood is there will be six or seven teams in for him.

"We try to do our scouting and monitor players for quite a bit of time. We track players for months and months sometimes, but they have got to come in and add value to the squad or be an asset to the club.
