Airdrie 1, Queen's Park 1: Hancock stunner rescues a point for Diamonds

Super sub Mason Hancock rescued a point for Airdrie with a terrific individual goal in a ding-dong battle with Queen's Park at New Broomfield..

Hancock climbed off the bench in 61 minutes and netted his second goal of the season two minutes later, levelling Dom Thomas' early opener for Queen' Park.

The draw leaves Airdrie sixth in the Championship table, as they chase a Premiership play-off place.

Thomas put Queen's Park ahead in 13 minutes with his eighth goal of the season, after Ruari Paton pounced on a defensive error.

That was levelled in 63 minutes through sub Mason Hanock's piledriver after a mazy run.

The first half was pretty even, but Queen's Park edged it on chances, with Paton hitting the right post, while Airdrie's Nikolay Todorov had a header well saved by Calum Ferrie.

Both sides stepped it up in the second half, with Hancock levelling for Airdrie, while Paton missed an open goal, and Danny Wilson hit a post with a header late in the second half.

Before this game Airdrie and Queen's Park were sitting in sixth and seventh, respectively, with just a point between them, though the Diamonds have two games in hand.

Airdrie boss Rhys McCabe made three changes to the side that beat Dundee United 2-0 in midweek. Craig Watson, Dean McMaster and Nikolay Todorov come in for Rhys McCabe, Mason Hancock and Calum Gallagher, who are all on the bench.

Queen's Park boss Callum Davidson made one change from the side that demolished Arbroath 6-0., with Jack Turner replacing benched Cillian Sheridan.

Airdrie threatened first in five minutes when Charlie Telfer tore down the right wing and crossed for Nikolay Todorov, but his header was brilliantly punched over the bar by Calum Ferrie.

Gabby McGill was through on goal in 10
