AFLW: Vikki Wall goals for Kangaroos in defeat

Vikki Wall opened her AFLW account, but her North Melbourne team fell to a 14-point defeat to Adelaide Crows at Unley Oval on Saturday.

The double All-Ireland winner with Meath scored her first goal but it was a second defeat for the Kangaroos.

Hamstring victim Ailish Considine and Niamh Kelly didn't feature for the Crows, who started sluggishly with Wall and Alice O’Loughlin making their presence felt on the scoreboard.

Erika O’Shea (five disposals and a mark) was also prominent for the Kangaroos, but the Crows began to take over with midfielder Ebony Marinoff the key player for North Melbourne who ran out winners 30-16.

Cora Staunton was key to Great Western Sydney’s (GWS) crushing defeat of the Sydney Swans.

The Mayo woman scored two of her team’s nine goals in a comprehensive 65-18 success.

Brid Stack had six disposals in a comfortable win.

Freemantle Dockers fell to a three-point defeat to Western Bulldogs, where Leitrim’s Aine Tighe was a goal scorer.

The 23-20 result means it is a third consecutive defeat to the Dockers, with Orlagh Lally and Amy Mulholland also featuring for the losers.

Aisling Sheridan shone for Collingwood in their 15-11 win over Geelong Cats at GMHBA Stadium.

The Cavan native had 15 disposals to her name, while Sarah Rowe finished with nine.

The Brisbane Lions demolished the Gold Coast Suns 82-9, with Tipperary’s Orla O’Dwyer making 17 disposals, three marks and three tackles.
