AFL injury worries ease for Port's Lycett

Port Adelaide's concerns have eased over Scott Lycett and Connor Rozee with their respective ankle injuries not expected to impact their AFL pre-season.

Lycett and Rozee both rolled ankles in Port's trial game loss to Gold Coast last Friday.

But both have been cleared of significant damage and are expected to play against Adelaide in Saturday's practice game - the Power's last hit-out before their premiership season-opener on March 19.

"They just had niggles," Port utility Dan Houston told reporters on Tuesday.

"Scott was going to come out halfway through the third quarter but with his ankle we just didn't take any risks."

Midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper is unlikely to play against the Crows after suffering a hamstring injury last Friday.

But the 24-year-old is expected to be available for selection for the club's March 19 away fixture against Brisbane.

Key forward Charlie Dixon remains in doubt for the round-one encounter with the Lions as he recovers from ankle surgery.

Dixon has resumed running at training but Houston was hopeful the spearhead would be available for the premiership season.

"Charlie ran on Friday and he's in the frame to play round one but we won't be taking any risks, we will look to see how he improves," Houston said.

Fellow forward Orazio Fantasia will miss the start of the premiership season after having knee surgery but 23-gamer Miles Bergman will likely be available despite missing the trial games after off-season shoulder surgery.

Houston said the Power will likely field a strong side against their arch foe Adelaide on Saturday as hierarchy seek to settle a team for round one.

"There's no doubt about it, there's a rivalry between us and Crows,"
