'Absolutely desperate...' - BBC Radio 5 Live man reacts to 'huge' Leeds injury worry pre-Wolves

Pundit Alan Hutton has been reacting to Patrick Bamford’s first Leeds start in six months at the weekend, Football Insider report.

Bamford played the opening 45 minutes of Jesse Marsch’s first win as Leeds boss against Norwich, with LeedsLive man Conor McGilligan worried he saw the striker limp off at the interval shortly after missing a glorious chance to double the lead.

The 28-year-old, who has missed the majority of the campaign through ankle and hamstring issues, was replaced by Jack Harrison but Marsch confirmed in an update after the game that the centre-forward was fine and hasn’t suffered a setback.

Hutton, who contributes for BBC Radio 5 Live, was talking to Football Insider about Bamford following the positive news.

He urged the Whites to remain cautious with the striker, believing there is a ‘huge’ chance he could ‘break back down’ with another game so quickly on the horizon on Friday night.

“They’re absolutely desperate. It’s a difficult situation as well because you have to manage his minutes, you have to be careful with him.

“He’s been out for a long period of time. To just throw him in for 90 minutes, 90 minutes, there’s a huge opportunity there for him to break back down.

“They have to be careful but on the flip side of that, they need him playing. They need him near his best to try and score the goals to keep them in the league.

“It’s a difficult balancing act. I think that’s right to give him the minutes and then take him off. Protect him, keep him for the next game and then build.

“You need your top players playing at a high level to stay in this division. They will have to be careful with him.”
