Adeshina, others top African performers in NCAA circuit

Nigeria sprinter, Success Umukoro, sped to an impressive 7.21 seconds in the 60m event at the Corky Classic at the weekend to set a personal season’s best and moved to the top of African 60m top list, supplanting her compatriot, Tima Godbless who a few hours earlier, scorched to a 7.22 finish to also set a lifetime best.
Umukoro holds a 7.15 lifetime best in the event achieved last year at the same ground.
In the 200m, Amaka Joy Nwokike also sped to the top of African list running 23.79 seconds at the Stile Athletics Field House in Akron, Ohio. According to SportsNow.com, it was an improvement on the 23.94 lifetime best she ran seven days earlier.
Nwokike was again the top African in the 400m at the same meeting, racing to a 54.46 seconds finish, the fastest time by an African in the event so far this year. It was also an improvement on the 54.56 lifetime best she ran a week earlier.
