Adamawa Warriors, Rivers Queens win National Division One Handball League
Adamawa Warriors, at the weekend, became champions of the National Division One Men’s Handball League after defeating Sunshine Kings of Akure in an epic final at the indoor sports hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State.
The Yola-based team, who were promoted to the Ardova Handball Premier League on day five after upsetting tournament favourites, COAS Shooters, defeated Sunshine Kings 22-20 to be crowned champions.
For finishing as the second-best team, Sunshine Kings were promoted alongside Adamawa Warriors to the Ardova Handball Premier League.
COAS Shooters settled for third position after defeating Nasarawa Ambassadors 34-25.
In the women’s category, Rivers Queens were crowned champions after going unbeaten in the National Division One League. They have also gained promotion into the Ardova Handball Premier League.
COAS Babes, who finished second after comfortably defeating Fountain Queens 35-19, also earned promotion to the Ardova Handball Premier League.
