Adam Pope: Marsch 'hopeful' of at least one Leeds signing 'this week' amid Monday transfer talks

Jesse Marsch is optimistic that Leeds United can do further business before the end of the summer transfer window, according to BBC Sport’s Adam Pope.

Leeds have thus far spent just under £100m on six new signings – Brenden Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra, Tyler Adams, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Darko Gyabi – but seemingly Marsch isn’t content just yet.

It seems that the American would still like to add another striker to his ranks, an objective which dates back to the start of the transfer window.

The 48-year-old is also pursuing a left-back to provide cover and competition for the injured Junior Firpo.

Pope relayed via Twitter that Marsch ‘hopeful of making more signings’, hinting at ‘final decisions’ and ‘moves’ over the course of ‘this week’.

The Leeds manager has resigned himself to losing out on long-time target Charles de Ketelaere, who is ‘definitely off to AC Milan’.

The Daily Mail reported that Marsch is due to take part in a transfer meeting on Monday to discuss targets, but who might Leeds be after?

A new centre-forward certainly appears to be a priority, with two options under consideration at present in Che Adams of Southampton and Julian Quinones of Atlas.

As for left-back, TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed (via Sport Witness) that Leeds are pondering a move for Philipp Max of PSV Eindhoven, although it may take a ‘crazy offer’ to get that deal done.

The clock is ticking if Marsch wants reinforcements before the competitive action begins, with the Whites due to face Wolves on Saturday afternoon in their Premier League opener.
