Adam Idah wanted for permanent Celtic transfer as Brendan Rodgers salutes the man who swung a season

Brendan Rodgers has told Adam Idah he wants him at Celtic for keeps.

The Hoops boss was full of praise for his Hampden hero as he climbed off the bench to net a last-gasp winner to secure a domestic double by dumping Rangers in the Scottish Cup Final. The Republic of Ireland international reacted quickest as he pounded on a Jack Butland save to blast the rebound under the body of the Light Blues No1 in the final moments of the 90 minutes with the game at that point heading for an extra 30 minutes.

Since joining on loan from Norwich City, the striker has made a big impact for the Scottish champions. He's hit the back of the net in crucial matches with this latest one his biggest yet as he grabs a second winners medal following the Scottish Premiership win. Speaking on Premier Sports post-match about Idah and the chances of looking to strike a deal with his parent club, Rodgers said: "Hopefully very real. For me he was the catalyst of our season because we needed a different dimension up front. The big guy comes in, he has so much potential and played in some really important games.

"What I love about Adam is he is a big game player. He loves the big games and occasions. Hopefully we can do something. He has a long-term contract at Norwich but he is definitely one I would love to bring back here. At 23 with the potential and quality he has I think he can really push on in his career."
