Adam Idah to Celtic transfer talks escalate amid Kyogo injury fear as Brendan Rodgers declares 'we know what we need'

Celtic are ready to ramp up the fight to land Adam Idah – after the Hoops suffered a Kyogo injury scare at Easter Road.

Parkhead chiefs are locked in talks with Norwich City over bringing frontman Idah back to Scotland in a deal worth up to £6m following his successful loan spell last season. Main man Kyogo has made an impressive start to the new campaign but remains the only striker on the books. And Hoops fans were given a fright when the 29-year-old’s shoulder popped out in Sunday's 2-0 cruise against Hibs.

Kyogo was whipped off as a precaution but Rodgers insisted he’s not watching nervously as the chase is still on for reinforcements. He said: “His shoulder popped out. I think it's just one of those ones that, he had a fall and it knocked it out. The guys put it back in again, but he felt the soreness. I don't need to risk him. We know what we need. We've always known what we need. My focus is really with the players who are here. Hopefully we can strengthen the squad over the coming weeks.

“There are other players who can go in and play that position. And that's what we have to do while we're waiting for players to come in.”

Celtic strolled past Hibs following the 4-0 flag day clobbering of Killie last week and Rodgers admitted Kyogo has been a key man despite not hitting the net yet. He said: “Absolutely. I don't need him to be scoring 40 goals. But he is involved.

“It took him a little bit of time probably to understand for me that it's not always about being on the last line. For me, I want him to play the space rather than the position.
