Adam Idah to Celtic transfer takes fresh twist as adamant Norwich boss claims shock sub is all part of masterplan

Adam Idah is wanted back at Celtic by Brendan Rodgers and the Parkhead faithful this summer.

But if Norwich City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup is to get his way, it would appear that it could be a much harder task than first thought. The Republic of Ireland cap is currently with his parent club in Belgium for their pre-season camp and he was part of the team that faced Club Brugge in a friendly on Wednesday. He played just 33 minutes before being subbed off in the 3-0 defeat but it was all part of the plan for the 23-year-old.

The Scottish champions are desperate to bring him back on board after his huge success north of the border. But his club boss provided an update post-match and insisted the hitman will be a 'valuable player' for the Canaries this season. He has been back involved for a little over a week now as he ramps up his fitness. As things stand, he will kick-off the season in the English Championship on August 10th at Oxford City. But if Celtic and the supporters have their way he will be turning out the week before as part of flag day at home to Kilmarnock the week before.

Speaking after the defeat to Brugge, the Norwich boss said: “Good to see him back. He’s been a part of the group now for a little bit more than a week. I’ve had a couple of sessions with the boys and it's important for us to get him started.

“Important for him to get in and have some minutes again and I think we could see what he can support this team with. So it’s nice to have him back on the pitch and I think he will be a valuable player for us.”
