Adam Hastings injury could fast track Ben Healy call-up for Scotland

Munster's Ben Healy could be set for an earlier than expected call-up to the Scotland squad, after Adam Hastings was ruled out of the entire Six Nations due to a shoulder injury.

Hastings requires surgery on a shoulder injury sustained while on Premiership duty for Gloucester, and is expected to be ruled out of the entire international window for Gregor Townsend.

He would have been expected to be alongside Finn Russell and Blair Kinghorn as Scotland's out-half options for the Six Nations, which they begin away to England on 4 February.

That injury could see Healy fast tracked into the Scottish squad, ahead of his move to Edinburgh from Munster in the summer.

The 23-year-old's future switch to the Scottish capital was confirmed yesterday, with Townsend reportedly playing a major role in securing his signing. Healy is Scottish-qualified through his mother who is from Glasgow.

Scotland have a number of injury concerns heading into the championship, which begins in just over four weeks; Zander Fagerson, Darcy Graham, Rory Darge and Scott Cummings all doubts for the start of the tournament.
