NFL star Damar Hamlin shows 'remarkable improvement' after on-field cardiac arrest, say Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have said that Damar Hamlin has shown "remarkable improvement" in an update to his condition following the cardiac arrest he suffered during Monday's NFL game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

A statement from the Bills confirmed that the Bills safety was "neurologically intact" and that his lungs continue to heal.

"Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours," it read.

"While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress. We are grateful for the love and support we have received."

Earlier this week, Hamlin's uncle Dorrian Glenn revealed that the player had to be resuscitated twice after colliding with Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.

Speaking to CNN outside the Cincinnati Medical Center, where Hamlin is being treated, Glenn said: "His heart had went out so they had to resuscitate him twice.

"They resuscitated him on the field before they brought him to the hospital and then they resuscitated him a second time when they got him to the hospital.

"I'm not a crier, but I've never cried so hard in my life. Just to know, like, my nephew basically died on the field and they brought him back to life."
