'Abusive' stalker threatened to 'chop up' ex's son and cut her cat's head off

An 'abusive' stalker threatened to 'chop up' his ex-girlfriend's son and cut her cat's head off, a court heard.

John Parvin also said he would stab the victim's new boyfriend and burn down her house on Christmas Eve, the Liverpool Echo reports. He left her in a 'constant state of fear' and 'always on watch for him'.

Parvin, who has a history of abusing former partners, had known his victim for 'many years' as they were 'close neighbours' who had lived opposite one another, Liverpool Crown Court was told. They began a short-lived relationship in November 2020, which ended in April 2021.

For a time, the pair 'remained friends on cordial terms'. Parvin - from Ellesmere Port - entered a new relationship, but issues arose when the victim did likewise.

The defendant then became 'jealous and threatening' and began bombarding her with a string of abusive messages over social media on September 15 last year. He asked her to return property and claimed she owed him money before calling her a "rat and a s***".

Parvin 'made repeated threats' over the following month - saying he would stab the victim's new partner and throw a brick at him, 'punch her all over the place', set fire to her dad's car and 'chop pet cat's head off and leave it on her doorstep'. Despite having previously supported her during times when she had been feeling suicidal, he 'encouraged her to hurt herself'.

On one occasion, he attended her home in Huyton while her 18-year-old daughter was present with her siblings. Parvin began kicking at the door and shouting down the phone at the victim, demanding to be let in.
