Aberdeen to ramp up Jamie McGrath contract talks as Dons make dealing in duo a top priority

Aberdeen are set to ramp up contract talks with Jamie McGrath.

The Republic of Ireland international’s deal is up in the summer. McGrath, 27, confirmed that Dons had opened discussions at the end of last season over a new deal. Talks were put on hold as he opted to change agents. The Aberdeen hierarchy is now set to sit down with McGrath and his new representatives to discuss an extension.

New deals for McGrath and Jack MacKenzie, also out of contract in the summer, are two of the main priorities for the Pittodrie club. McGrath has been a key player for Aberdeen since his release from Wigan in summer last year. He has three goals and three assists as the Dons have made a 100 per cent winning start in the Premiership and Premier Sports Cup. He will be fit for the weekend clash with Motherwell after the all-clear from a head knock suffered at Ross County before the break.
