Aberdeen star on Scotland camp "buzz" amid unbeaten run

Scotland star Lewis Ferguson says there's a buzz about Steve Clarke's national side after they stretched their unbeaten run to eight matches last night.

The Aberdeen midfielder made his first start for his country in Vienna as Austria came from 2-0 down to hold the Scots to a 2-2 friendly draw late on, cancelling out goals by Jack Hendry and John McGinn.

The followed a 1-1 draw at Hampden in Thursday's friendly where Muirhouse man Kieran Tierney grabbed his first Scotland goal.

While the national side will be disappointed not to have conceded late equalisers in both matches, former Hamilton Accies ace Ferguson says there is a great spirit in the camp right now and everything is positive heading into June's scheduled World Cup play-off semi-final with Ukraine.

The 22-year-old, who hails from Hamilton, told the Scotland media team: "I'm so proud to represent my country and start a game.

"It was a tough game. We played well in the first half but we were a bit sloppy at times, never kept the ball as much as we would like to, and it's disappointing to lose the equaliser in the end.

"But, overall, I'm pretty pleased.

"It's been good [the camp]. The boys like to get together, there's a real buzz about the place at the minute.

"It's really positive and we are unbeaten in eight.

"All the camps I've been involved in have been great, so I think everyone likes working together.

"It's a really tight group, everybody gets on well and everybody looks forward to getting away."

Ferguson has now made three appearances for his country, having made his debut in a 1-0 defeat to Denmark in September last year and playing a part in a 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Austria in Vienna a few days later.
