Aberdeen frustrated at Rangers tribunal hold up as AGM reveals wait goes on for Connor Barron compensation

Aberdeen chief executive Alan Burrows has revealed the club are growing frustrated and impatient with the SPFL as they await a verdict on just how much Rangers will have to pay for Connor Barron.

The midfielder swapped Pittodrie to join the Ibrox club on a free transfer last summer after his deal with the Dons ran out, but Aberdeen will be entitled to a significant compensation fee having ensured Barron's progression from a youth player to first team level. Speaking at the club's 121st AGM on Monday, he said: "This may sound like a cop-out, but the rules of the SPFL prevent us from speaking too much about it.

"But what I can tell you is that the process has been extremely elongated and has taken significant time for both management and staff. I am happy to go on record saying that the SPFL should have a much more succinct system to deliver this sort of thing. It should not take 6-7 months to try and deliver that. We hope to have a conclusion on that fairly soon. I certainly agree that it gone on for too long and should act as a catalyst for the league to do it better."

Burrows also confirmed that Aberdeen are in talks with Duk, Jack MacKenzie and Jamie McGrath over new deals, with the trio all out of contract at the end of the season. Summer signing Ante Palaversa only signed a one year deal with the club but the Reds do have the option to extend it by a further two years.

“We remain in good dialogue with those players and would like those players to stay at Aberdeen football club", he stated.
