Aberdeen fans in Hearts ticket scramble as Red Army handed just 600 briefs for Tynecastle Euro showdown

Hearts have knocked back Aberdeen’s plea for more tickets to leave the Red Army with little more than 624 for their potential third-place showdown at Tynecastle.

The much-anticipated Scottish Premiership clash will see the Dons take on the Jambos, who currently sit one place and are five points in front of their chasing rivals, at Tynecastle a week on Saturday. The Aberdeen support will get just 624 away seats in the Roseburn Stand for the capital clash. Aberdeen officials had asked for more tickets but have been knocked back.

Hearts have nearly sold out the home sections and insist there is no scope to increase the away section for the game The allocation is the normal for visiting teams to Tynecastle, with the exception of Rangers, Celtic and Hibs. The Dons support will be housed in the Roseburn Stand and is the same numbers they had back in January, when they lost 5-0 under Jim Goodwin.

Hearts had 1,540 fans at Pittodrie for the last match between the two teams, which the Dons won convincingly 3-0 back in March. The travelling Dons fans have already seen the match moved to a 12.30pm kick-off because authorities wanted it earlier because Beyonce is playing at Murrayfield later that night.

The early start allows Hearts to sell pay-per-view for the match. That could be a major financial earner for the Jambos, especially with such limited away tickets. There's also the small matter of finishing third and getting guaranteed European group stage football, which the capital club experienced this season in the Europa Conference League.
