Aberdeen ball kids get Nick Walsh warning as failed Rangers salvage job hits unexpected Pittodrie buffers

The Aberdeen ball kids were handed a telling off as their team marched on to an impressive 2-0 victory over Rangers.

Whether it was a shot or a cross, Liam Scales didn't care as he scored the opener and Bojan Miovski made sure Barry Robson's side won the game with a diving header beyond Allan McGregor. It's a seventh straight Premiership victory and means the Dons are best placed at present to come out of this season in third spot after matching Hearts' three points against Ross County pre-split.

They have also managed to inflict the first defeat upon Rangers boss Michael Beale by a side outside of Celtic since he became boss at Ibrox back in January. But as the match approached its closing stages, referee Nick Walsh had a word with a member of Pittodrie security, and Sky Sports commentator Ian Crocker claimed it was the ball kids not hurrying along with their duties that prompted a word. He said: "This is something to do with the ball boys from Aberdeen. They are not exactly returning the ball quickly when it is necessary."

And co-commentator Andy Walker reckons there could be bookings in the future: "We'll get to the stage where ball boys and girls will get yellow cards."
