Aaron Mooy to 'secure' Celtic transfer as Ange Postecoglou talks progress with in demand free agent

In-demand Aaron Mooy looks set to snub a host of English sides to complete a dream move to Celtic this summer, according to reports.

The ex-St Mirren, Manchester City, Huddersfield Town and Brighton star has negotiated his release from Chinese side Shanghai Port, and the 31-year-old will is reportedly set to link up with Parkhead boss Ange Postecoglou once again. Mooy was a key player for Postecoglou during his time as Australia boss and is set to go to the World Cup in Qatar later this year with the Socceroos as long as he signs for a club that gives him playing time after his spell in China was heavily disrupted due to Covid restrictions.

The Telegraph state that club will be Celtic despite interest from a host of English Championship sides this summer. Reporter Mike McGrath claimed on Twitter: "Aaron Mooy to disappoint a host of Championship clubs to secure a dream move to Celtic as a free agent. Talks have progressed for the Australia midfielder to join squad of countryman Ange Postecoglou"

Following the pre-season game against Blackburn Rovers, Postecoglou admitted his admiration for the player but stopped short of confirming interest. He looks set to continue conversations with the player this week.

The Australian said: “He’s another footballer who is very much talented and very much in my range, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to bring him in, no. Aaron’s a fantastic footballer, somebody I know really well. I’m sure he will get picked up, he’s a very talented player.

"In terms of us, we have got a plan that we are sticking to and so far I am pretty happy with the progress we are making on all fronts and hopefully there will be some news coming out before the season starts. We are going through the process
