AA Hospitality Awards 2023 full list of winners as Stockport restaurant takes home major prize

The best hotels, restaurants and staff in the UK have been unveiled - and some of the winners are within a short driving distance of Greater Manchester.

The prestigious AA Hospitality Awards seek to recognise and acknowledge the crème de la crème of the hospitality industry, with this year's glitz ceremony held at JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London last night.

TV presenter and broadcaster Claudia Winkleman was on hosting duties as 1,000 guests filled the room to celebrate the outstanding contributions to the UK's hospitality sector, spanning an impressive array of fifteen categories.

Among the winners was acclaimed Stockport restaurant, Where the Light Get In, which was awarded 4 AA Rosettes. It joins Manchester's only Michelin-starred restaurant Mana, and Adam Reid at The French, as the only Manchester restaurants currently with the accolade.

According to the AA, restaurants with 4 AA Rosettes are among the top restaurants in the UK where the cooking demands 'national recognition'. It says: "These restaurants will exhibit intense ambition, a passion for excellence, superb technical skills and remarkable consistency. They will combine appreciation of culinary traditions with a passionate desire for further exploration and improvement."

Since opening in 2016, Where the Light Gets In has led to the charge in the regeneration of Stockport's Old Town and raised the game for fine dining across Greater Manchester with its daily changing menu served in a hidden dining room above cobbled streets.
