'A really good move' - Kevin Campbell urges Everton to sign 'premium' midfielder

Everton favourite Kevin Campbell has urged the club to sign Leicester CIty midfielder Hamza Choudhury and said he has ‘premium’ attributes.

Everton are reportedly lining up a bid for Choudhury, according to a report in The Mirror.

The 24-year-old came through the youth ranks at the King Power Stadium and has made 84 appearances since debuting for the Foxes in 2017. However, his career is at a crossroads having fallen down the pecking order under Brendan Rodgers. Choudhury made just 12 appearances in all competitions last season and is into the final year of his contract.

He is unlikely to be offered a new deal and will hope to revitalise a career away from Leicester that has seen 53 Premier League appearances. Choudhury would provide depth and competition in a problem area of the pitch for Everton as Lampard looks to reshape the spine of his squad. Nottingham Forest and Championship side West Brom are also interested in the midfielder according to reports.

And Campbell believes Choudhury would be a superb pick-up for the Toffees and is confident he has all the qualities to succeed at Goodison Park.

“I do. I think whenever he’s come into that Leicester side he’s never let anybody down,” Campbell told Goodison News.

“He’s tenacious, he’s tough, he loves to put a tackle in, and he’s got plenty of energy. You ask anybody in the Premier League, having players like that is at a premium these days.

“People who are willing to put their bodies on the line. So I think that would be a really good move. Another person in that midfield with energy, who can get round the pitch and break things up.”
