5'6" UFC legend set to retire at UFC 281

A UFC legend will reportedly be making his final entrance to the octagon as part of the UFC 281 event this November from Madison Square Garden.

This is another addition to an already massive MMA fight card from MSG, which will be headlined by Israel Adesanya defending his UFC Middleweight Championship against Alex Pereira in the main event.

The 5’6″ legend has had a huge career in mixed martial arts, and with a 24-10-1 record, this may well be a good time for the 40-year-old to retire.

Here is everything you need to know about a UFC and MMA legend reportedly retiring at UFC 281 in November 2022.

Brett Okamoto revealed on Twitter that Frankie Edgar would be making one last trip down to the octagon as part of the massive UFC 281 event from Madison Square Garden.

He tweeted: “Frankie Edgar (@FrankieEdgar) in the Garden one last time. Edgar will face Chris Gutierrez at UFC 281 on Nov. 12. He confirmed to me it will be his last fight, “unless someone gets lippy in Seaside next summer.” It will be his 30th UFC bout.”

Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar has had an incredible career inside the octagon, with some absolutely massive bouts against the likes of BJ Penn, Charles Oliveira, Max Holloway, Cory Sandhagen and Urijah Faber.

As of writing, Edgar has not been officially confirmed on the official fight card via UFC.com, so we do not currently know who his final opponent will be officially, although Okamoto has of course claimed it is Chris Gutierrez.

For reference, here are the bouts that have been confirmed (via UFC.com) for the event as of writing on Thursday, October 6th, 2022 that you will be able to watch in full across UFC FIGHT PASS and BT Sport:
