44% duels won, 0 completed dribbles: The West Brom player who has a point to prove against Hull after poor Swansea display

West Bromwich Albion suffered another embarrassing loss last night as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Swansea City at The Hawthorns, a stadium the former made a fortress in the early stages of the season.

However, it was another poor performance from the Baggies despite Callum Robinson hitting the post on two occasions, failing to display anywhere near enough quality to make the breakthrough against a side that were vulnerable away from home prior to this meeting in the West Midlands.

It was the visitors that made the all-important breakthrough though, with Oliver Ntcham making a remarkable run before putting the ball on a plate for Joel Piroe to fire the ball between Sam Johnstone’s legs and into the Albion net in the 79th minute.

Cyrus Christie doubled the Welsh side’s advantage five minutes later when he was in acres of space on the right-hand side, firing the ball past Johnstone who should have arguably done a much better job than he did.

Very few Albion players could hold their heads up high after that display, perhaps barring Grady Diangana who will be desperate to get into top form under a new manager, but one man in particular was disappointing when looking at the statistics.

That man was Darnell Furlong – who was introduced at half-time for Dara O’Shea to provide a more natural wide attacking option – but his attacking contribution was very limited and this was something that was particularly disappointing about his performance.

Completing none of his two dribbles, he failed to prove an adequate threat down the right-hand side, being unable to ask questions of Swansea’s defence or put them on the back foot.
