£3m Puerta update emerges, Sparta seal Rrahmani deal and Todd Cantwell latest - Rangers transfer state of play

Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly received a £3m offer for Gustavo Puerta - dashing Rangers' hopes of landing him on loan.

The Ibrox side are said to be one of five clubs keeping tabs on the Colombian youth international who joined from Bogota in January 2023. He's only managed a handful of substitute appearances and it's been claimed Rangers were ready to rival clubs down south and in Europe to bring the 21-year-old in on loan.

Now though Alan Nixon reports on his Patreon that Brondby have launched an outright transfer bid of £3m which has blown the English sides "out of the water". Whether or not Leverkusen want to sell outright at this stage though remains to be seen - they paid more than £1.5m to sign him 18 months ago and he still has four years to run on his contract. A loan may make more sense and, if that proves to be the case, it's down to Philippe Clement to make his case that Glasgow is the best place for his development.

Elsewhere Gers have finally lost out on striker Albion Rrahmani after he completed a £4.25 million transfer from Rapid Bucharest to Sparta Prague. The Ibrox side have been linked all summer with a move for the Kosovan international who scored 18 goals in 29 matches for Neil Lennon's team.

However, a fee was never agreed and Rrahmani has agreed to move to the Czech club, with Rapid also gaining a 15 per cent sell-on clause. Rapid stated: "Unfortunately, the story of Albion Rrahmani has come to an end here. He is completing his medical and won't be a part of the squad for the match against Dinamo Bucharest. But we know he will certainly still be supporting the team."

It's Rapid's highest transfer fee they have ever received for a player, although it's considerably less than the £8 million
