3 SPFL clubs eyed for dual ownership as SFA ready to 'relax' rules and English sides primed to strike

A clutch of SPFL clubs are being eyed by free-spending English sides with the SFA ready to relax stringent rules over dual ownership in the game north of border.

Teams in Scotland have largely escaped the multi-club model which is rampant across the globe but it's understood a shift from the governing body is coming, The Daily Mail state change could be afoot with the SFA primed to soften their stance and negotiate over potential 50.1 stake opportunities on a case-by-case basis for SPFL teams.

The update comes with Dundee locked in talks with Burnley's ALK Capital over a feeder club arrangement which could be the first of many if the rules are altered. Article 13 of the SFA regulations has long been a barrier to such agreements but Mike Ashley restricted to a 10 per cent stake at Rangers amid his Ibrox power struggle

Paul Conway wanted to add a Scottish side to his myriad of clubs across the globe with his Pacific Media Group in 2019 but walked away from talks when it became clear the governing body would cap their stake at 24.9 per cent. But now it appears Scottish clubs are ready for change with over 180 sides across the globe involved in a multi-club format.

Red Bull and City Group lead the way but others are aiming to follow and Scotland appear ripe with the shifting stance from those in charge.
