3 out-of contract players Hull City should target this summer to enhance their squad

It was a solid season on their return to the second tier for Hull City in 2021/22.

In the end, the Tigers finished the Championship season in 18th place – comfortably clear of the relegation battle, owing to points deductions to Derby and Reading.

Avoiding relegation has to be seen as a big positive, though, with the young talent they have on their books, it could be a big summer ahead for Hull as they try to keep hold of them.

Having said that, the club will also looking to strengthen and kick on next campaign, and with that in mind, we’ve picked out three soon-to-be free agents that we think Hull City should target this summer to enhance their squad.

Every backline can do with some additional competition in the Championship and Hull City are certainly no different.

That’s why we think the club should look at Alfie Mawson this summer.

He is out of contract at Fulham come the end of June, and if you can overlook his injury history, he could be a shrewd acquisition.

Mawson was out of favour at Fulham this campaign, but on a free transfer, could be a risk worth taking for the Tigers.

Another player here that has suffered from injuries of late, but that like Mawson, unquestionably has a lot of talent.

It has recently been reported that O’Dowda will be released by Bristol City when his contract expires at Ashton Gate this summer and Hull City could do worse than add the versatile 27-year-old to their ranks.

Particularly when you consider the speculation surrounding the future of attacking players such as Keane Lewis-Potter.
