3 Hamza Choudhury alternatives West Brom should consider if they don’t sign Leicester man

West Bromwich Albion will look to be ambitious with their summer recruitment, as they prepare for a first full season under the watch of Steve Bruce.

2021/22 was, undoubtedly, a massive disappointment for the Baggies, who drifted to a mid-table finish after Bruce replaced Valerien Ismael.

Bruce is looking to build a squad capable of competing for the top-six over next season’s 46-game campaign, with some interesting links emerging.

According to the Birmingham Mail, West Brom are interested in signing Hamza Choudhury, who is available for a loan from Leicester City this summer.

The defensive midfielder would be a fine signing, yet he’s been described as an “expensive” loan option, whilst Middlesbrough are also keen on signing the 24-year-old.

So, should West Brom be lining up alternatives to the Leicester man?

Pearson has proved to be a very good defensive midfielder in the Championship in his days with Preston North End, and Bruce could do worse than targeting a deal for him as an alternative to Choudhury.

Jonny Howson

Middlesbrough have made their move to tie Howson down to a new contract at the Riverside Stadium, but at the time of writing it’s still not clear whether or not the 34-year-old will be sticking around.

If he’s to be available on a free this summer, Championship clubs will be all over him, with Howson’s longevity holding up last
