2 transfer developments we could see emerge at Stoke City as the summer window looms

Stoke City’s season is in danger of petering out given that the side sit 15th in the Championship table and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Crystal Palace on tuesday night.

Despite showing promising form early in the season, The Potters are now enduring a terrible run of form, with just one win in their last eight league matches.

With that being said, we thought we’d look ahead to the summer transfer window and look at two transfer developments we could see develop at the Bet365 Stadium.

Josh Maja returns?

Josh Maja joined Stoke City on loan for the remainder of the season at the end of the January transfer window.

Maja scored on his Potters debut in their 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic in early February and has made four league appearances since.

This one might be a bit pre-mature, but given the high hopes Michael O’Neill has for the young English forward, could we see Maja return for a season-long loan in the summer? Or, even permanently?

Maja has spoken about the ambition of the coaching staff being a key factor in his decision to join The Potters, so this may be a transfer development that could emerge in the summer.

Michael O’Neill has revealed the forward is making sacrifices to be at the club – which certainly shows a desire to be there.

Nick Powell contract extension

Nick Powell joined Stoke City in July 2019 and has been a player that has done well ever since.

The 27-year-old’s contract is set to expire in the summer, but with Stoke City and Powell having the option to trigger an extension, expect things to develop on this one as the summer approaches.
